Waking up this morning to lots of snow.

We started by visiting the church floor an area of basalt columns for a long time it was thought that this was a church floor.

There was lots of snow this morning

Our next stop was a canyon that was created in a single catastrophic event.

This was caused by a flood caused by a volcanic eruption on the ice cap above.
Driving to our next point of interest we stopped in a lay-by there was a mangled section of bridge again victim of a flash flood from an eruption. It brought home the power of these events.

We walked for about 30 mins and the waterfall came into view.
A huge fall over basalt columns.

Last stop of the day we walked up to a glacier the winds coming down were really powerful.

At the coast on the way back we stopped at “dimond beach” a black sand beach where large ice chunks come a shore after carving from the glacier. The weather was awful so a quick walk out to see it and back to the warmth of the van.
