We headed back across the bridge, travelling at an average of 1 mile an hour.
It was a misty morning when we first woke but it burnt off quickly.

Driving across the peninsula was a little like being at home on the levels very very flat.
Hidden on these salt marsh flats was a fortified town

The fort was once at the mouth of a large tidal harbour but the sea is now a good mile plus from the site.

Other than the holes cut through the walls for the road the walls were intact.

A fascinating place.
Further round, we stopped for lunch and a group of old American and French military vehicles came past.

On the road again, we found a fort protecting a bay..

It is getting hotter. Supposed to be 38-40 tomorrow…
