There are a lot of castles in france

Over the last two days, we have travelled through  Gascony and the Dordogne and have seen a lot of castles and churches.

We have done a bit of driving seeing the castles of the area. There have also been huge fields of sunflowers. We stopped off in a few villages and towns along the way.

Our first stop that was planned was in a village which stands above a 30ma bed of oyster shells and, of course, another castle.

There was also a church with a roman arch.

Next stop

We are driving again at lunchtime we find ourselves in Cadillac, a town with impressive walls. We took our time going around the town looking at the walls.

CHÂTEAU de BIRON

We decided to stop and look around this Chateau.

The Chateau had been built from the 1300s it has one of the largest kitchens in france at 22m x 9m.

It was a long but good day of sightseeing.
