We slept in the grounds of the spiritual home of the Jesuit movement. From the van, we could see the top of the basilica.

We started with a walk around the town there was a self guide tour which took in buildings from the 1300s on.

We saw a church built by the Knights Templa and the hospital where Saint Ignatius recuperated after suffering injuries at the battle of pamplona.

There was also a kitten hiding in the shrine.
After the tour, we visited the birth place of St. ignatius his family home is hidden away behind tbe 1700s facade.

His life story was very interesting, and he seems to have walked around most of Europe and parts of the Middle East.
In his family chapel, there was a chalis used at his first mass.

After seeing the house he grew up in we moved next door to the basilica built in the 1700s in his honour. It was truly spectacular.

After this, we got in the van to start making some progress, not anything to do with the heat and wanting to be in the air-conditioning.
We stopped at a geo park an opportunity to stretch our legs.
We drove to the out skirts of San Sebastian and spent a very warm evening in the hills above
