Relatively early start today we climbed Diamond Hill unfortunately there was a lot of cloud in the Connemara National Park. From just below the summit we saw Kylemore Abbey a Benedictine Abbey.

Omey Island

The next stop was Omey Island an island cut off at high tide. We walked out to the island the hedges were amazing.

Marconi and Alcock and Brown

We stopped at the signature stop on the Wild Atlantic Way. The site where Marconi had his transmission station and where Alcock and Brown landed after the first transatlantic flight.

On our walk back from the site we saw modern peat extraction an excavator digging out peat putting it in a tractor-driven extruder.
